Frequently Asked Questions
Are my plates valid in all states?
Yes. So long as the truck pulling the trailer is an IRP/Apportioned-registered truck, the plate is valid.

How do I order plates?
Order here on the website for the fastest process. You can also call us at 208.656.4732 or email info@idahotrailerplate.com. We'll need some information and proof of ownership of the trailer. We can easily get it done up quickly for you. We accept any major credit card.

What types of trailers can I license?
You can register any commercial trailer which has a gross weight rating in excess of 2,000 pounds AND which is pulled by an IRP truck. Campers, recreational vehicles or light utility trailers are not able to be registered this way.

Is there a limit on how many trailers I can license?
There is no limit to the number of trailers you can license.

How long do the plates last?
The registration is valid so long as the owner remains the same. If you sell the trailer to a new entity, the plate becomes invalid.
What documents are sufficient to prove ownership?
The best document is a copy of a title in the name of the entity for which you want to register the trailer. We can also accept a tile receipt.

Can you register a trailer without a copy of a title?
Yes. We can register with a bill of sale. However, Idaho will only issue a 45-day temporary registration until we have proof of ownership.
